The Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles are pleased to announce that Trevor Simonson will take over as the Junior A team’s Head Coach for the 2019-2020 season, while Anthony Langevin will serve as Director of Hockey Operations.
Simonson served as the team’s Assistant Coach for the 2018-2019 season in Binghamton, in addition to serving as Head Coach for the U16 AAA team and Assistant Coach for the U10 AAA team. Simonson led the U16 AAA team to an impressive 23-11-5 overall record, while capturing 2 championship titles. For the Junior A team last season, he was also in charge of the Power Play units and Video Sessions.
Trevor started his junior hockey career with the Arizona Redhawks in the WSHL before moving to the Butte Roughriders in the NPHL. In 30 games, he collected 11 points and led the Roughriders to a post season playoff run. He then played for the Columbia Valley Rockies in the KIJHL and had short stints with the Boston Bulldogs, Richmond Generals, Cranston Reds, and Walpole Express. He finished his junior hockey career with the American Hockey Institute (AHI) Fighting Spirit in the NSHL and served as an Assistant Captain. He anchored the team on and off the ice and helped lead them to the AAU National Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. He played NCAA Men’s Division 3 Hockey for the Daniel Webster College Eagles. After playing, Trevor served as an Assistant Coach for the squad for the three seasons.
“I’m excited to get started in Elmira with our inaugural group,” Simonson was quoted saying. “We have a lot of new faces coming into the program and I can’t wait to get going. I’d like to thank the Langevin’s for this opportunity to lead one of the strongest Junior Hockey programs in the country. Go Eagles!”
