The Elmira Jr Soaring Eagles are off to a hot 3-0-0 start as they start the season in command of the Northeast Division, once again. They will face off against the #2 seeded Danbury Colonials at home this weekend.
Long Beach 3 @ Elmira 7 – What looked like may be a back and forth game, gave way to a rampant offensive performance. The Jr. Soaring Eagles pulled away from an early 1-1 tie to eventually defeat the Sharks 7-3 on Friday night. Zac Bell was a main key to Elmira’s success by scoring four crucial goals in the game, while Ethan Fuller netted two goals, and Bryce Kolpien also found the back of the net once. Long Beach players Nathan Hartline, Pavel Filin, and Zachary Ostowski all contributed goals in Friday night’s uphill battle against the Jr. Soaring Eagles. However, it was not enough to get the win in this high scoring game.
Long Beach 2 @ Elmira 8 – After two quick goals, Elmira was off to a good start over Long Beach. The Jr. Soaring Eagles went onto net one more goal in the first period and totaled 8 goals by game’s end, winning 8-2. Thomas Liebold led Elmira to their win Saturday night with a hat trick and two assists. William Darling also had a big night by finding twine twice, while Zac Bell, Liam Murphy, and Jayvon Fogelgren also netted goals for the Jr. Soaring Eagles. In the third period, Chris Wracker and Zachary Ostowski found the back of the net for the Sharks and shortened Elmira’s lead to six.
Skylands 2 @ Elmira 4 – The Jr. Soaring Eagles made a third period comeback and defeated the Kings 4-2. The Kings struck first with a goal by Khole Hibbert and then Nick Ferrari. However, the Jr. Soaring Eagles’ flew away with the game in the third with two goals by Liam Murphy, and goals from Jayvon Fogelgren and Kawashima. Skylands’ Tyler Robertson turned away 51 of 55 shots, while Elmira’s goalies Daniel McCarthy and Andrew Engel had a combined total of 46 saves on 48 shots for the win.
