EJSE battle through injuries to sweep a hard working New England squad

The Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles swept the New England Knights this past weekend on the road in Raynham, Massachusetts.

Elmira 3 @ NE Knights 1 – On Friday, the scoring took 45 minutes to arrive, but the Jr. Soaring Eagles broke the ice early in the third and ultimately potted three in the final frame to take a 3-1 win over the Knights. Ethan Fuller, Nick Meyers and Geoffrey Walton nabbed the late goals, outmatching a lone New England strike from Ethan Ranger. Nick Konkel of Elmira and Zach Roncarati of New England were both stellar in net, stopping 28 and 38 pucks respectively in the contest.

Elmira 6 @ NE Knights 4 – A pair of hat-trick performances by Liam Murphy and Thomas Liebold carried Elmira through a back-and-forth affair to a 6-4 win over the Knights on Saturday. Andrew Palmiter led New England with two goals, with Chase Lapworth and Tyler Pimental also scoring. Andrew Engel’s 19 saves earned the win, while Patrick Gibbin suffered a tough luck loss despite 36 saves in the Knights’ cage.

“Although we have a few of our top players out due to injuries, we battled through and found a way to take home 4 big points on the weekend,” Director of Hockey Operations, Anthony Langevin, was quoted saying. “The Knights played us extremely hard both games. Hats off to them for never giving us an inch throughout the game. But we will have to be a lot better in the upcoming East Showcase next weekend. Nick Konkel had a big weekend in net and was by far the catalyst in both wins.”

The Jr. Soaring Eagles improve to 6-1-0 so far this season (while the New England Knights fall to 1-4-0. The Jr. Soaring Eagles will be on the road next Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at the East Showcase in Attleboro, MA.
